Jon Reeves, PhD

Jon Reeves PhD Headshot

Hello! I’m Dr Jon Reeves, owner of Forefront Psychology and licensed clinical psychologist. My approach is most informed by relational psychodynamic, attachment, and existential therapies. Working with me feels like taking a fresh walk through the story of your life with a trusted confidant. You'll talk about your current challenges of course, but we'll see how these are impacted by your childhood, past experiences & relationships, and unspoken core values. Patients have described me as unflappable, curious, and reassuring. Many have said that our work together changed their life.

This is such wonderful work and I feel lucky to do it. I believe in therapy because I believe it can make people healthier, and that healthier people make for a better world. Healthier folks experience more joy, have better relationships, live in greater harmony, and can work & play more creatively. They also grieve more honestly, feel their pain more directly, and learn to live with their limitations, regrets, and mortality. The work of therapy is challenging, but transformational.

If this appeals to you, please get in touch.

I am licensed to practice in Washington (PY61003047), Massachusetts (10682), and most other states as a member of the PsyPact Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT; 14747).

I find it incredibly rewarding when I am able to connect those looking to improve their lives with those who can help them do so.

My goal is to provide a warm welcome to anyone starting (or continuing) their work towards a more fulfilling day-to-day.

Finding the right fit in a therapist can be an overwhelming process; it's helpful to know the person on the other end of the line (like me!) is working with you to help you get there.

Therapy at Forefront

Psychotherapy as a profession has only been around a little more than a century. Yet the core principles of therapy—understanding emotion, exploring relationships, and fostering growth—have been around a lot longer. At its best, therapy is a dynamic process of discovery, healing, and transformation.

There are two main schools of therapy. The younger school is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which teaches skills to help patients to established health outcomes. The older school, Psychodynamic Therapy, is what I practice. I don’t believe that I know a priori what’s important to you. Psychodynamic therapy is very flexible and our work together at Forefront is collaborative and tailored to you.

Therapy at Forefront isn’t about quick fixes or superficial change. It isn’t about an expert telling you what to do. It’s about two curious people engaging with the deeper layers of
who you are, creating lasting change, and building a more authentic, fulfilling, and joyful life.
